An 1887 that never was: While the British Empire prepares for the Queen's Golden Jubilee and is considered the strongest power in the world, the Pax Britannica proves to be a deceptive peace. Danger lurks around every corner – ambitious scholars and inventors push the science of magic forward without regard for the consequences, revolutionaries want to reform or overthrow, foreign powers weaken the Empire, and beings from beyond feed on humanity's weaknesses.
Only the Irregulars stand against it. Hailing from all walks of life, they band together in Associations to fight the evil in their world. Some rely on miracles of magic and technology, others on wit, charm, and fighting prowess. Together they work to improve the world—or at least to hold back the excesses of entropy for another day.
The Victoriana Corebook provides rules and guidelines for adapting 5e to a Victorian setting where magic gives way to science. It includes Irregular Associations, to which all Irregulars belong and which provide focus, headquarters, and support. New character options include six new lineages and eight classes for a world of sorcery and steam, as well as new weapons and equipment, mechanical enhancements, and magical relics. Complications open up additional roleplaying opportunities by introducing weaknesses.
